RALLARVEGEN - NORWAY'S MOST BEAUTIFUL BICYCLE TRIP

Experience dramatic and magnificent nature from the bicycle. Rallarvegen is the most beautiful and exciting cycling experience in Norway!

The road was originally built by hand around the turn of the last century to transport equipment and supplies during the construction of the Bergen Railway. Today, the Rallar Road is Norway’s most popular cycling route, stretching approximately 80 kilometres from Haugastøl via Finse and Hallingskeid, through Vatnahalsen and down to Flåm. The ride from the “roof of Norway” down to Flåm by the Aurlandsfjord is breathtakingly beautiful and promises memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Start your adventure by taking the train to Haugastøl or Finse. Many travellers arrive by train from Oslo or Bergen, or by taking the famous Flåm Railway from Flåm to Myrdal before continuing on the Bergen Railway to the starting point. You can bring your own bicycle (remember to reserve space on the train) or rent one in Haugastøl or Finse. The journey from mountain to fjord offers unforgettable experiences through some of Norway’s most spectacular natural and cultural landscapes. Upon arrival in Flåm, we warmly welcome you to Ægir Gastropub for a relaxing “after bike” experience with flavourful locally brewed beer from Ægir Brewery.

Route in km and hours:

  • Haugastøl to Finse: 27km (3-4 hours)

  • Finse to Hallingskeid: 21km (3 hours)

  • Hallingskeid to Vatnahalsen: 17km (2 hours)

  • Flåmsdalen: 17km (1 hour)

Combine Rallarvegen and the longest zipline in the Nordic region - Flåm zipline! Your adrenaline is pumping and your pulse is racing as you set off down the 305-meter-high cliff at Vatnahalsen, whizzing through wild and beautiful nature down Flåmsdalen. The bike is sent down the valley with an own bike lift.

Rent a bike? Check out Haugastøl or Finse 1222. We also recommend the bike package from Fjord Tours.
