DIVE TRIP TO FLÅM FOR GROUPS

Is your dive club looking for the next destination? Try wreck diving in Flåm - a great winter dive on the wreck of D/S Begonia.

On April 19, 1940, the D/S Begonia set sail from Rotterdam in convoy bound for Murmansk. On the way north, the ships were attacked several times, and the Begonia sought refuge in the small Flåm inst in the Sognefjord. On April 25, Begonia was discovered and attacked by German aircraft. The ship was badly damaged and Captain Kägi was killed. The Germans also bombed several buildings in Flåm. The Begonia did not sink, and this led to concerns about new attacks. Norwegian forces therefore sank the ship shortly afterwards - but the exact date and how this happened is somewhat unclear. Some sources say that the ship was blown up on April 29, while others believe that the bottom valves were opened by the boat "Vestlefrik" on May 2.

The wreck of the Begonia is a great diving target where she rests on her keel, at a depth of 8 to just over 36 meters. Begonia is relatively intact, with many beautiful and exciting details. Fresh water flowing into the fjord in the area can affect diving conditions, which is why it is recommended to dive in winter for the best possible visibility.

TRANSPORTATION TO THE DIVE

Flåm is located at the end of the Aurlandsfjord, by the E16 between Bergen and Oslo. The wreck of Begonia is located about 400 meters from land, and we recommend using a boat to reach the starting point of the dive. There are several options for transportation to the dive:

- FjordSafari Norway has open RBB boats that take a maximum of 12 people in each boat. Boat drivers from FjordSafari Norway drive the boat. Price per hour, per boat.

- You can rent a boat from Flåm that you drive yourselves.

- Bring your own boat to be launched in Flåm.

ÆGIR BEER AND FOOD

We run one of Norway's best-known microbreweries - Ægir Bryggeri! We're passionate about beer, but we also draw a lot of inspiration from the Viking Age. Our philosophy is that there should be Ægir beer in and with food.

Ægir Viking plank (pictured) is our signature dish! The unique 5-course beer and food menu pairs five locally sourced dishes with five different Ægir beers to complement the food. The combination is perfect!

UNIQUE TASTES

The story of Ægir Brewery started with beer, but it didn't stop there. Use your senses and discover a new world of smell and taste.

We offer different types of tastings, ranging from pure beer tastings to tastings of all Ægir Brewery's products; Bekk - Norway's first alcoholic rice, Ægir beer - known to many, Mead - Viking mead with a touch of heather honey, Gin - flavorful with juniper berries and Aquavit - the water of life.
